Wimberley, Texas

Wimberley, TX is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.  Wimberley is known for its scenic beauty, small town charm and artistic flair.  The town sits in central hays County 15 miles northwest of San Marcos, 40 miles southwest of Austin and 60 miles northeast of San Antonio.  Wimberley is nestled in the Blanco River Valley where Cypress Creek flows into the Blanco River.  Extensive deposits of limestone make up the white rocks and white river bottom common in the area.  The city sits approximately 1,000 feet above sea level on the Edwards Plateau and consists of approximately 5,000 lucky individuals.

With hot summers and mild winters, Wimberley averages 300 days of sunshine a year with approximately 34 inches of rain.  Expect the chance of frost between the end of November and the end of February but the winters are short lived.  But there is something for everyone all year long.  For more on Wimberley, you can try the Chamber’s site at http://www.wimberley.org.  But we’ve included some of our own recommendations on the Local Activities page of our website.  Enjoy!

• Marco's Italian Restaurant - Homemade pizzas and pastas that are very tasty.  BYOB and enjoy a fine meal inside or out in their garden area.  Great for kids and adults alike.  Wimberley Square.  847-0742

• The Leaning Pear - For Wimberley, a high end restaurant that has a standard menu of sandwiches and salads while also offering specials each evening that reflect what produce and meats are "in season".  111 River Road. 847-7327

• Ino'z - Also on the square, a great daytime restaurant and outdoor patio overlooking Cypress Creek.  Enjoy sandwiches and burgers outdoors or watch a Longhorn game inside at the bar.  14004 RR 12.  847-6060

• Brewster’s Pizza - Big family owned and operated at the Junction.  9595 RR 12.  847-3299

• Cypress Creek Cafe - Dining, bar and live music on the square.  847-0020

• Ruffino's Place BBQ & More - Trailer on the side of the road with picnic tables serves great BBQ tacos, sandwiches and other good fare.  Not a fancy place, but real tasty.  15801 RR 12.  847-2151

• Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood.  Great BBQ and a fun place for some local "culture".   BYOB or you can buy wine or beer at their cellar.  Live music outdoors on the weekends.  18300 FM 1826, Driftwood.  858-4959

• Blanco Bowling Club Café in Blanco – Good Tex Mex place as well as a good place to get pies.  310 4th St., Blanco.  830-833-4416
